Roby Lakatos is one of the famous Hungarian gypsy violinists. He is a „world-musician”. He spent his childhood in the 6th district in Budapest. At the age of 6 he already performed at the memorial concert for the famous gypsy musician, Pista Dankó, and at 11 he was already a regular member of another famous gypsy musician, Sándor Járóka’s orchestra. In 1984 with his first own band he was contracted to Brussels to Les Ateliers de la Grande Ile, and played there for 12 years. It is during this time that he created his own style, a mixture of gypsy music and jazz. He got aquaintence and later friendship with such worldwide famous musicians as Yehudi Menuhin, Stephane Grappelli, Mehta Zubin or Maxim Vengerov. With the mentorial help of Menuhin and the contracts he got from the USA and Germany, Roby became world-famous. His performing skills are combined with the technique of a virtuoso.
